I love being a part of Suffolk’s vibrant creative community so each month I’ll be celebrating someone who contributes their time, skills and energy to making Suffolk such a wonderful place.
This month is the turn of author, poet, and spoken word performer Sue Thompson. Sue was one of the first Suffolk writers I met after moving from Norwich in 2011. Her warm welcome and enthusiasm for writing, really helped me find my feet in Suffolk.

Q & A with Sue Thompson

Hi Sue, thanks for taking part. First, please tell me what you enjoy most about creative writing?
Writing relaxes me. I enjoy recording how events and people make me feel at a particular moment.

What do you find the most challenging?
My biggest challenge is with anything technical.

What achievement are you proudest of?
My proudest achievement has to be publishing four books.

What advice would you give to new writers?
Join a group, ask for help, and know when to take a break.

How can people find out more about you and your work?
They can visit my facebook page (Sue Thompson Author) or follow @suffolklovingsue on Instagram and Threads.

Here I am with Sue and other members of Suffolk Writers Group, running the Wild Words Suffolk Stall and writing ‘Quick-Fire Poems’ for EACH Charity. With contributions from visitors to The Star Inn in Wenhaston, together with poems and donations from people online, we raised £500 in total.
Next month I’ll be featuring Jane Spencer-Rolfe who is the brains behind the Wild Words Suffolk project and also organised this wonderful charity fundraiser.
